First of all thanks and praise for a need that was met:
I have a new roommate moving into my place in Nashville. He really sounds like a good fit and this fulfills my need to have a roommate in each of the three bedrooms in the house to keep me financially afloat.
Current Prayer Requests:
1) The young adult/university ministry I work with at New Life Church will be getting off of summer break soon. The first service will be September 10th. I hope to get a chance to talk to the pastors of this ministry and to the co-leaders of the worship team before it starts. A meeting with all of these leadership figures would be awesome. At a friend's suggestion, I realized that understanding the vision of the pastors and setting goals for our particular team (the worship team) in helping to fulfill that vision would have some great benefits.
I foresee some stressful situations coming up due to the dynamics of individuals and their accustomed ways of doing things. These things could drag us back and wipe out some of the progress we made in enjoying our tasks, our gifts, and our responsibility to lead worship. Having goals in written form could be a great tool for holding each other accountable to the good of the ministry and serve as a standard by which to reveal our personal or self-serving shortcomings. Please pray for that and for some personal dynamics that I hope will be addressed before our rehearsals and services begin!
2) I have had a couple of requests/suggestions to start a Bible study group which uses guitar lessons as its draw. The format would look like a short guitar lesson following by discussion and study time. This really sounds like a good idea and I know people who would be interested and whom I do hope to minister to. The prayer request here is that I will have the courage and wisdom to get this off the ground if it is God's calling for me right now.
3) The Russian language is difficult. For the most part, I actually enjoy the process of learning it. That's not always how I feel as I do homework late into the night but the overall experience of learning something so applicable to my work here is pretty interesting. But I could use prayer for my ability to comprehend and remember everything and for the guts to be using what I learn as much as possible whether it's up to "performance level" or not. That last part is a challenge for me sometimes.
